Why It Matters

CAMP-of-the-WOODS is a place where people encounter Jesus. Through God's Word, time together, and the care of those who serve, guests of all ages are invited to grow in faith and live out the Gospel.

Program income covers much of the cost of carrying out this ministry, but not all of it. Gifts to the Partnership Program/Annual Fund support the people, places, and programs through which that happens. For over 125 years, people who believe in this mission have helped carry it forward.     Well-maintained recreation spaces and equipment give families more opportunities to enjoy time together at Camp.

    Financial assistance helps make a week at Camp possible for families who otherwise couldn’t afford it.

    Year-round staff support discipleship and missions opportunities beyond the summer, from online Bible studies to missions trips abroad.

    Year-long internships help develop future ministry leaders while providing hands-on experience across a variety of Camp ministries.

    The right equipment helps our maintenance team care for Camp’s facilities and grounds throughout the year.

Feature Story

Somebody Ready to Listen

This summer, Craig Cochran spent a lot of time with our Summer Staff — sometimes over a workout or a run, sometimes shooting hoops. Craig served as our Staff Chaplain, but he knew meaningful conversations often begin long before someone asks to meet with a chaplain. As he got to know the young men on staff, some began opening up about things they hadn't expected to share — making room for prayer, honest questions, and discipleship.

Craig also led a weekly Bible study on faith, identity, accountability, and relationships. Nearly 40 young men attended each session in the early weeks — and by summer's end, they were still gathering in the dorms, even after the formal study had ended.

Across our staff chaplain ministry, nearly 200 individual discipleship meetings took place this summer. Each one represents a young adult who had someone ready to listen and walk alongside them.

This is one part of what gifts to the Annual Fund help support: the people who care for Summer Staff as they grow in Christ and serve our guests.

We're now introducing Annual Fund as a clearer name for that giving, since it more plainly describes what it is to everyone in the CAMP-of-the-WOODS community, new and longtime alike.
